30 Sep It’s GreenwayREADS season!
Greenway Arts Alliance has officially begun our Greenway Reads program!
Every fall, Greenway leads the Fairfax High School community and beyond in a community reading of a pre-selected literature. For the 2024-2025 school year, students will be reading the popular Mexican myth La Llorona. With Greenway Reads, students in the participating classrooms are engaging with the myth during a 5-week residency. The residency consists of a teaching artist who develops arts-based activities that highlight the myth’s themes.
After the classroom engagement, our Greenway Court Theatre produces a stage version of the story and hosts matinee performances for the students, including a post-show discussion with the cast. This year’s production at GCT is called Ghost Stories: The Dead Can’t Dance and integrates story telling, dance, and music. Matinees begin the week of October 14. We look forward to this year’s program!
