Congratulations, Darin Dahms!
Dahms directed Greenway Court Theatre’s production of Butterflies of Uganda: Memories of a Child Soldier, and received an NAACP award, Best Director, for his work. The play was lauded for its treatment of the emotional subject matter.
After that strong start to 2007, Fairfax students celebrated as well with $258,700 given to the after-school drama program and in-school film, poetry, and literacy classes. The drama club also gained $1,000 in new sets and costumes that helped to display off their acting abilities.
The football team also got some help to show off their talents, with $5,598 buying them items including a camera to capture their best moments.
The cheer team needed $818 to purchase mats to keep our leaders of cheer safe and sound while they performed their stunts.
$4,500 bought machines for the weight room, so all of Fairfax’s athletes could strengthen their muscles and win some games for the school. Thank you for making us proud, Lions!
Furniture purchasing was also on the agenda for this year, with $800 going to chairs for Fairfax staff and $2,426 going to tables in the special education department.
In order to ensure the positive development of the school going forward, Greenway Arts Alliance contributed $30,000 to the salary of Fairfax High School’s Development Director.
Let’s toast to these positive developments, shall we?
