The Melrose Trading Post is an outdoor market operated by Greenway Arts Alliance that has been held in the parking lot of Fairfax High School every Sunday for the past 25 years. A portion of the funds raised at the Melrose Trading Post are explicitly allocated to Support Grants for Fairfax High School student clubs and organizations. Grant applications will be evaluated using a point system (detailed below). This system includes a presentation to the Friends of Fairfax board, which includes stakeholders representing the community, parents, teachers, and administrators. Grant awards may be affected by the point system evaluation.
Any approved club or organization on the Fairfax High School campus may apply for the grant.
Schools may apply for a booth at the Melrose Trading Post and propose a fundraising activity. Greenway will provide a mandatory training session. Priority will be given 1st to Fairfax High School. Fairfax clubs can present to the Friends of Fairfax Board to receive a matching grant of up to $ 1,000 ($500 for other LAUSD schools).
