The school year gets started at GIA.

Fall Kickoff: This August, Greenway Institute for the Arts held their annual 2024 Fall Kickoff celebration! This was an exciting event held at the Greenway Court Theatre introducing Fairfax students to Greenway programming. The theatre was buzzing with energy and excitement as students engaged in a variety of fun activities such as speed painting, a scavenger hunt, singing, and dancing. Students also got to enjoy a delicious free meal sponsored by Taty’s food truck!
The Fall Kickoff featured a raffle, in which student Iliana won two free Universal Studios tickets! Another student, Gaby, won a $25 Blick Art Supplies gift card for earning first place in the speed painting activity. This experience undoubtedly created enjoyable memories for all who participated. The new academic year started off with a bang and GIA has many more exciting events to come!
Afterschool Programming Commences
On August 19th, GIA welcomed new and returning students to our Fall Afterschool Programming at the Greenway Court Theatre! Voice classes are held every Monday from 4–6 pm and drama classes are held every Wednesday and Thursday from 4–6 pm.
This semester, GIA students are preparing for the Nightmare Before Christmas themed showcase which will take place on December 5th at the Greenway Court Theatre.
Professional Development for MTP Student Workers
On August 29th, the Melrose Trading Post Student Staff attended their first “Dev Session” of the school year held at Greenway Court Theatre. Dev Sessions are training sessions held once a month and are designed to help shape the way the student staff approach their future professional careers. At this month’s introductory session, students practiced team building by coming up to the GCT stage where they shared two truths and a lie. We are excited to support their journey!
